"Right now I'm checking out where I'm rolling in from and what's in between me and the quarter pipe because that's going to give me a really good idea of how much speed I'm going to need. On this particular set up, it's actually going to feel like I'm going to slow but I'll demonstrate right now. You get a good pump, come in and jump this just a little bit, turn around, get up in the disaster position and you roll right in. See, I really didn't have to go too fast at all across the flat bottom and as you'll notice when you were watching me do a disaster, I made sure to keep my shoulders out in front of the transition because what happens is if you go too fast and you get your upper body up above the transition, there's really no hope of you getting your front wheel back into the transition. So you might want to watch that clip a couple more times if you're not quite sure what's happening. You want to just keep in mind that the important thing is that you end up hopefully with your front wheel pretty close to the top of the transition, because that will allow you a better point to jump in from. Once you're up there, you still have a little bit of time to kind of readjust. Because you're front wheel is basically pushing you back down the transition you don't have that long up there, you can't stall up there and just kind of sit there for a couple minutes like you could with a double pipe stall or something like that. So once you're up there, if you're front wheel is pretty close to the coping, which is the ultimate goal, it allows you a better point to pop back in from. So you actually want to throw your weight forward and kind of pick your back wheel up a little bit just like you're dropping in basically and what that will allow you to do is hopefully get your sprocket over the coping and get your back wheel over the coping so that it doesn't hang up and you don't end up with kind of a violent jerking motion as you're rolling back out. It takes a little bit of practice and it can be a little bit scary at first, especially if you're trying it on a new quarter pipe, something that's really steep is always a challenge even for a more advanced rider. Once you have it really locked in, it's something you can do in a lot of different obstacles and it's a really fun trick, so it's really worth learning."
