" Hi! I’m Angela on behalf of expertvillage.com, and I’m going to describe to you a way of stretching your stomach. This is very relaxing. To relax these muscles it’s very healthy to before exercising. It reduces the risk of becoming tense. First what you want to do is you want to lie on an exercise mat preferably, because of the padding. It’s very comfortable, where as on the carpet it’s very hard and it’s harder to relax as well. You want lay down, have your arms like this facing upward, and then you slowly want to push upward and face the ceiling. During this process, you can hold it for a while. 30 to 40 seconds and just inhale and exhale. At this point you can feel your muscles just relaxing and stretching. You just want to hold this position. Everyone is going to have a different arch, depending on how flexible they are. You can have it like this. The more and more you practice, the more and more you’ll be able to bend. You also want to contract your buttocks muscles as well, because it increases the stretch. This is also frequently used in yoga, in beginner’s yoga, as a way of getting started. "
