" Hi! I’m Angela on behalf of expertvillage.com, and right now I’m going to describe to you a proper way of stretching your arm before and after weightlifting. It’s extremely important you do this so that you reduce the risk of tearing your muscle. In which case it takes a long, long time for it to repair, especially if you’ve just begun weightlifting. What you want to do…I’m going to start out with my right arm and I’m going to lift it upward over my head, my fingers placed downward. Make sure your posture is straight as well, not arched or slouched like this. You want everything to be straight as possible. My middle finger is aligned with my spine. What I’m going to do is I’m going to take my left arm and place it on my elbow, and this is where the stretch begins. I’m going to place a little bit of pressure on my elbow downward. Do this for about 15-20 seconds. You’ll be able to feel the stretch all down here. This helps repair the muscle and repair the muscle. You want to make sure you don’t apply to much pressure or bounce like this; hyper-extend it. A lot of people do that when they’re in a hurry or they just want to being weightlifting right a way. It’s very important that you do this very gently. "
