Series Summary

Gymnastics is a sport that involves a sequence of movements and exercises that require strength and flexibility. Typical gymnastic moves include handsprings, handstands, forward rolls, tucks, somersaults, vaults, and other acrobatic maneuvers. Competitive gymnastics, like those in the Olympics, take a lot of dedication and practice. There are many types of gymnastics including artistic, rhythmic, sports aerobics, sports acrobatics, trampoline, and power tumbling. These are all regulated by the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique. The two most popular types of gymnastics are artistic and rhythmic gymnastics; these are the types seen in the Summer Olympic Games.

"My name is Sibylle Walters. I’m the owner-director of Flairs Gymnastics located in Davie, Florida. You can find us on the web at www.flairsgymnastics.com. And now we’re going to demonstrate to you what we can do with a ball. It’s very impressive, this is also eye-hand coordination, we throw and we catch the ball. Nice and easy, not too high. Keep your eyes on the ball. Keep your arms out, very good. And stop. Now we’re going to hold the ball up, we drop the ball and we catch. Drop and catch, drop and catch, and hold it nice and tight. Put it between you legs, please, and squeeze the ball and we jump and jump. Nice, very good. You should keep the ball between your legs, Hailey. Very good and stop. And we sit down on the floor; this is for exercising your stomach muscles. Put your arms out to the side, lift your ball up in the air and hold it. Hold it first, sit back up ladies. Hold the ball up, hold the ball up, come on, there you go. And now rock back and forth. One and two, back up. And two, and back up. Very good and hold the ball again. Hold it up. Very good and hold it up one more time. Ready. One more time and we stand up, very good. And we’ll be right back. "
