"Today we are going to show you the procedure for peeling and seeding a tomato. I've got a pot of boiling water ready to go here and what I am going to do is score the base of these with just an x and that will allow the skin to start to peel away as we cook these tomatoes. So we are just going to drop those in like so and make sure that they are actually covered in water. We are going to cover those and give them about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes and when we start to see the skin separate we are going to stop the fire and show you the rest of the procedure. Now we are going to continue peeling a tomato and we are going to pull these out of the pot. As you can see, the skin has already started to separate. To make this task a little bit easier, we are going to go ahead and drop these in an ice bath. This is called shocking. So as you can see the skin has already actually started to peel on its own and we didn't want to cook these too long. Just enough to make the skin separate. Now we can actually cut into the tomato and all I do is punch out the seeds in the center with my fingers and you have cleaned, peeled and seeded section of tomato. "
