on 10/22/2008 'Finger twirls'First you start by holding the baton using two fingers and your thumb.like you would holding a pen or pencil,Then lift the baton towards your shoulder and roll between each finger until you reach your little finger then the palm on your hand should open it should automatical roll onto the the ring finger untill it reaches the thumb.while you do the first count on the right side 1234 then swing to the left side 5678..same goes for above the head then to the swing to the ground......Thats the easiest way to explain finger twirls....

"Hi, I'm Suzanne Von Schaack with Expert Village. Today I'm going to teach you how to take the baton through your fingers, down in a horizontal near the ground, and then up. Let me show you, it's a little bit hard to explain. Watch my posture as I do this. Okay, if you watch my hand, the palm of my hand is up, and it's almost as if I'm going to do the finger twirl, so the palm of my hand is up, the head is to the back, the toe is to the front. As it goes through the first two fingers, my next two fingers grab the baton, and then turn it over, and I go back through those two fingers again. Let me show you again. The toe is to my left, the head is to my right, my hand is up this time. It goes through those two fingers and then I grab it. Only using the first two fingers go through the fingers, catch. Let me show you again. Through the first two fingers, catch, bring it up, go back through the first two fingers again. So this is how the move looks. Watch my posture, you have to bend down, kick up, bend down, kick up. Of course, just practice in through two fingers, catch, and going up in the beginning, then you can add the body movements to make it look like it's much more extreme. Through the first two fingers, catch. Let me do that again. The middle of the baton, through the first two fingers, up horizontal, back, I'm right where I started again. Through the two fingers, up. Here's the combination with the body moves, down, up, down, up!"
