"Hi. I'm Suzanne Von Schaack with Expert Village. Today, I'm going to teach you how to twirl the baton doing a side twirl. Take the baton again in your hand, put your hand in the middle with your fingers under. Head of the baton here, toe of the baton there. Take it to the side and put the head up and the toe to the bottom. You're going to take the head, go under the arm, and let the toe go to the outside of the arm. So the head goes to the inside, the toe goes to the outside. This becomes your side twirl. This should be from the side. The head goes under, the toe stays to the outside. Let your hand rotate. It's all done with the fingers. If you can see my fingers, I push the head under and the toe to the side. Now you can do a variation of that by going up in the air, and twirl it down. The head always goes to the inside, the toe goes to the outside. Up, just move your arm up and down. If you want to do the other side, you do what's called a hand to hand. And just twirl on the other side."

on 9/9/2008 Does the baton move inside your hand, or is it stationary in your hand? I guess I'm pretty dense, but I can't seem to figure this out?
