"Hi. I'm Suzanne Von Schaack. I'm with Expert Village. And today, I'm going to show you how to choose the proper baton for you. If you want to be a twirler, you have to choose a baton that has the proper length. First let me explain. This is the head of the baton. This is the toe of the baton. Some batons are very smooth like this one, and some have nail heads on either side, so that it shows you that the proper placement to put your hand is right in the middle. The length of the baton is very important. How to measure for the length of the baton is to put it underneath your armpit and your fingers should just curl over the top of the baton. If the baton is like this, it's definitely too long. Therefore, when you go to twirl, it wouldn't even go underneath your arm. Or, when you try to do the tricks, it would be hitting under here. So, the length of the baton, you measure under your armpit with your fingertips curling over. That's how you choose a baton."
