"Hello! My name is Glen and I want to talk a little bit about the origin of soccer. It seems to have developed in all parts of the world. Its roots can be traced back to Persia, to Japan, to Europe, to South America. Native American Indians played a game that was very similar. A lot of the major innovations and the games that we have now really took place in England. England and Italy seemed to take to the game with a lot of passion early on. In terms of the world game, FIFA which is the international organizing committee and ruling body for the game was developed in 1904. In 1908, the first Olympic game was played in soccer. In 1930, the first World Cup was played and the World Cup is the world's largest sporting event. Not much productivity happens when the World Cup is going on all around the world. The United States has caught onto that fever and the US teams have done pretty well. "
