" Hi! I’m Louis Ortiz on behalf of Expert Village and today we’re going to show you how to do a breakdown and clean a pineapple. Alright this is going to save you quiet a bit of money simple because if you’ll notice in the grocery stores the process fruit or that which has been cut already for you to make fruit salads and such is quiet a bit more expensive than just the raw product is. So we’re going to go ahead and get started on this guy I’ve got a sinatar knife which is one that I like to use for pineapples and we want to kind of square this guy off so it’ll be a little bit easier to clean around. So I’m going to cut approximately that far below the top…and just make a nice even square cut there and this will act like a guide for us and we got some décor for our cooking area. Alright so I’m going to go ahead and take off I’d say about a half inch from the bottom, okay as you can see there’s a core in the middle and we’ll cut around that as we get further down and now it’s just really a matter of taking the skin off the pineapple itself and you want to kind of follow the curvature of the pineapple and just go easy on it so that we can reduce the amount of waste. As you notice I’ve cut shallow first to show you the pifts and we want to try to get rid of those so I can cut a little bit deeper but for illustrating what we’re trying to accomplish here I wanted to cut shallow first and again a sharp knife is going to make a world of difference on a job like this. Alright so those are the initial cuts that we’ll make top and bottom again I’m showing you these pifts and devits on here and that’s what we’re going to cut through next but now that we’ve gotten a guide of sorts we know how deep we need to cut, so we’ll come right back and show you how to go just a little bit further down and we’ll cut this guy into sections and show you how to take a core out."
