"Once you find a good jump rope that you like, one of the worse things you can do to it is actually take it by the handles and, we're going to do this even though I hate to do it, and wrap the jump rope tight around the handles and then throw it in your gym bag. The next time you go to use that thing, it's going to be all balled up, it's going to be tangled, it's going to take a few minutes to get it all loosened up. Then you've got to actually step on it and stretch it back and sometime that pulls it out of the handles. So the best thing to do with the jump ropes, whether they be the leather ones, the plastic ones, even the cotton ones, is actually get a place and hang them up in the gym. Here at Bantam Boxing we have all our jump ropes hanging. Sometimes the weight of the handle is enough just to keep them in a nice tight position. So try to make sure that when the boxers are done with the ropes, they're not just balled up and placed in a corner. Make sure that they hang them right back up there and retain that straightness."
