"What I want to talk about now and demonstrate is what I call the "slip, dip and drag." Sometimes then a new boxer will ask me, "How high do I pick up my foot when I go to step," or, "I can't really move too good because I've got too much traction on the soles of my feet," and my feet are pretty well worn, but I tell them a good set of boxing shoes, of wrestling shoes allows you to slip a little bit better and drag a little bit better. That way you don't have the traction. Sometimes the students will actually take off their shoes, they can, a little bit, slip and slide a little bit better without the shoes on at all. But what we're going to try to do is rather than pick up your foot at all in boxing, we don't want to pick it up a foot, we don't want to even pick it up an inch, what we're going to try to do is we're going to try to slide the front one, we're going to dip at the knees like we talked about, and then we're going to drag the back one. So it's all going to be a slip, dip and drag. Slip, dip and drag. Rather than walk around the ring, rather than hop around the ring using up a lot of energy, just slip, dip and drag. No matter which direction you're going in, just reverse it. You're going backwards? Slip the first foot, dip and then drag. We're going to slip, dip and drag. More on that in the next clip."
