"Hi, I'm Bill Rogan along with Andy Cornell, and on behalf of Expert Village -- we're going to talk about breaking in baseball gloves. A lot of times kids get a new glove and they say to me, "Bill, how do I break this in? Do I put it under a mattress? Do I wrap rubber bands around it? Do I put it in a bucket of water to soften it up?" None of those things. My advice would be to simply play with the glove. The more you use it, the more it will get broken in to the way you feel comfortable with your glove. Another thing -- don't let other people use your glove because they'll break it in wrong. So use your glove and break it in. This one here -- 1976 I got this glove, my high school glove. Still good. I take good care of it. I take it to the shoe repair store to get re-strung from time to time. My other glove -- I got this in college, 1981, broke it in the same way, just by using it, and look how nice it's broken in. Ball goes in the glove and it doesn't come out. At least it's not supposed to. Now here Andy's glove is a fairly new glove. It's a little bit stiff, as you can tell, but the more Andy uses it -- just keeps playing with it -- the more it will get broken in. If he decides to put it under a mattress or something, it may get broken in wrong, and he'll have to end up getting a new glove. So just practice as much as you can. Use that glove and it will get broken in properly."
