"Hi, I am Billy Kidd, I am here on Expert Village, and we are going to talk about the four-four defense. Now, with that, you can do it in several different ways. The great thing about defensive fronts, you are going to be able to call different plays with your defense just like you do your offense so that the offense doesn't know what to expect. Long ago we had this man playing a C-gap, this one an A, this one a B and this one a C. Well, we can change it all up and they can take the gap to their left. Or they can take a gap to the right. You can put in certain calls in for them. They can all slip this way, you can have all your linebackers slant this way, and fill in the gaps, and what it does is it creates tougher angles for your offensive lineman to block because now that guy's not just standing there waiting to be blocked, he may be crossing his face and to get to another gap, which gets that lineman out of position, gets his shoulders turned to where he's not good squared to the ball where he can get movement, and he gives up penetration to the defensive lineman at the same time creating gaps between his buddies, which creates penetration from the linebackers."
