" Hi there! I’m Lisa Krone and I am from the Best Epicurean and I am here for the expertvillage.com to talk about making dinner with kids. These are my children, Kyle and Scott and they are going to help me today in making a dish that I like to make with kids which is really great and that is make your own pizza. So the first thing that we do when you make your own pizza is I go to my local pizza parlor and I get some dough. The really neat thing is for 16 inch dough like this they charged me about 75 cents. So what I do for the make your own pizzas is I take a simple knife, I cut up the pizza dough, I give them some cutting boards and a rolling pin and if you don’t have an extra rolling pin for everybody, you can just use a flat cup like this one and it works as a great rolling pin. The other thing that I’ll do is I will put the sauce and all the stuff that they are going to put on their pizza, I am going to put it in plastic or paper containers because if you have a lot of kids around the island or around your table who are making pizza, very often or not we might get one of these and then you could have a broken glass, broken ceramic or something like that, so this is a kid safe, kid friendly way to do it. A lot of times when my Kyle will have some of her friends over or Scott will have some friends over, this is what I make. They love making their own pizza. If you have smaller children, one of the things that I recommend the most is if you get a canned or jar of tomato sauce, excuse me that is my dog Kathy, you want to look at the ingredients because a lot of these tomato sauces come with corn syrup and extra sugars. You do not want to have that with your small children so what you will do is read the label, bring it home, this particular one does not have it; they make their pizzas. When they roll out their dough, you want to use flour. One of the ways you want to store the flour is in a plastic bag. It makes it easier for little hands as well as big hands to reach in and grab the flour for the dough. When the kids are all done and all finished, I grab a pizza stone, this one is very well seasoned and the kids, Kyle is almost finished, all we do is take it, now it is nicely floured, slide it onto the stone and it is finished and that is how you can make a easy dinner with kids and it is very little work on my part and it is a lot of fun for them. So that is one great idea that you can use when making meals with kids. I’m Lisa Krone for expertvillage.com."
