"Now we are going to discuss circular parries where they work in the same line where the attack was made. So if I am here and my opponent's blade is positioned like this as she makes a thrust I can draw a circle around her blade with my blade keeping her in the same line and out of my way. I can make a circle around her blade making a degagee followed by a parry. So once again she is in line and I'll make a circle and push her blade out of the way. That works the same this way so if she is in line I can circle around and it is still on the same quadrant but I have moved it out of my way. I can actually go even father than that so if I am on this side of her blade I can actually draw a circle completely around her blade as she begins to thrust and get it out of my way and take control of the blade where again she is vulnerable to attack because I've parried. So on this side it works quite the same way but I begin on this side and draw a complete circle sweeping her blade out of the way but it ends up in the same quadrant work again. We are just going to show these in the same action with an opponent quickly. Again if she is engaged on this side I can sweep under her blade and parry that way and actually come in for an attack over here or I might coupee and try another attack. I could actually make that same move as she thrusts. I can sweep up her blade and it is important that I sweep with the fort of my blade so that way I have the most control, making a tight circle around her wrist and again because I parried I have established right of way and I can come around in whatever way I need to make my attack. So once more on this side again both ways are making little circles so that if she goes to make a thrust on that side I can parry her this way and come under her blade or if I begin on this side of her sword I can make a complete circle as she thrusts and get her blade out of my way so that she is now open for attack."
