" The next thing we are going to talk about are the three different ways a hitter can make an out. The first way is a strike out; we’ve talked about that a little bit earlier. The second way is for a hitter to hit a ball in the air and have a position player somewhere on the field catch it before it hits the ground; that’s called a pop-up or a fly out, that’s the second way. And the third way a player can make an out is on the ground. If he hits a ball on the ground and he runs to first, one of our position players at shortstop or a second baseman fields the ball, throws it to first base before we get there; that’s the other way to get an out. There are other ways, those are the three basic ways to make outs, you know. Say you hit a line drive and you are rounding first base and you get thrown out at second base, the second baseman gets the ball from the outfielder and tags you before you get there. That would be another way to make an out. So but the basic three ways, strike out, fly out, ground out and that’s about it."
