"In relation to our heavy bag workout, the first thing we are going to do relates to our basic boxing stance. The first thing I have the boxers do in preparation for their heavy bag workout is to make sure that they've got a good boxing stance on before they approach the bag. The original, good start for a boxing stance is remember you are going to have your heel about shoulder's width apart, your going to have a little slight bend to your knees, you should have your left hand in your cheek the right hand under your chin, tuck your elbows in a little bit. Try to become a small package. Then maybe take about a half step away from the bag. But a good stance. What we want to do is, as we draw a straight line from the heavy bag, we want that straight line to go right on the left lead foot toe and right back to the rear foot right foot heel. So that way, you're not exactly straight broadside to your target, creating a big target yourself, and you're not actually looking directly away from your target, making too small of a target and not being able to use both hands, but more of a semi-open target. So, the basic boxing stance, heels shoulder's width apart, basic bend a little bit to the knees, left in your cheek, right under your chin, elbows tucked in a little bit, and then half-a-step away from the bag."
