"Today we're going to talk about how to pick out a fresh pear. A few different things to look for in fresh pears is, basically, none of these are ready to go, you're going to have to wait a few days on any of these right here. But, you want to go for a little bit more of a yellow one on this particular Bartlett pear, anything a bit more yellow. This one is too green, this one is starting to come around, you're still going to have to wait, it's not quite ripe, but that little bit of a lighter yellow color is what you're looking for. A little more than this because this one is not quite ripe, there aren't any ripe ones here. You're going to have to wait on all of these, but you want to go for that nice yellow color and a little bit of give on them isn't a bad thing either, that's going to be a nice soft pear if they have a little give. These ones are still really solid, not ripe yet. That is a rock hard pear there. And, also, you do want to stay away from any kind of really soft spots and any kind of bruising on them at all, any little cuts or anything like that you want to stay away from. Most pears are going to have these little brown marks on them all over the place, just about all of them have them. That's no problem, you don't have to stay away from that. That's just on the skin, just not that big of a deal, you don't have to worry about those little marks, the real soft spots and any kind of like cuts or bruises that you can see you want to stay away from. So, you're going for the little bit more of a yellow color and a little bit of give on them."
