"Hi, I'm Bruce Marnie and on behalf of Expert Village in this segment we are going to see how to scale a saltwater fish. Now that our fish is completely scaled and smooth as we rub on it from the tail towards the head. That's the indication that all scales have been removed. We'll take it out of the water rinsing it carefully and then drain the water from the sink allowing all of the scales to collect in the trap at the bottom of the sink so they don't go down the drain. Now that we have drained all of the water out of the sink you will notice that all of the scales from the fish have collected in the trap and even some escaped and are even down near the drain. So we will just work these out with our fingers and then shake the scales off in to our readily available waste basket. It's just important to not let the scales go down the drain so they don't contribute to clogging your drain later on. Another nifty trick in scaling a saltwater fish if you don't have a deep sink or available area to scale it in without letting the scales go all over the place, you can get a typical brown paper bag from a grocery store. Take a pair of scissors cut the bottom off like that and open up the bag so you have a cylinder. Just a round cylinder. Then you simply put the fish inside that cylinder and take your scaler and your hand to hold the head and scale away and what happens is the paper bag catches all the scales from flying off into your kitchen. When you're done you can take the fish out head first using your right hand to scrape the body of the fish like this as you pull it out leaving all of the scales back in the paper bag and then simply wrap up the paper bag and throw it away in your garbage."
