"This is Dave for expertvillage.com. We are going to fry deep fried turkey. A lot of questions we get are how much oil we should use. A good way to do it the first time with the size of bird that you have is we put water in instead of oil into the pot and you get your turkey and gently place it in and you want to see that the water will completely cover the bird, which this has here; this is basically about ½ full using this large pot. Then you will know if you need to add a little more water to get it over the top of the bird. You can simply do that and you will just want to mark or keep in mind where that line is; that water line is. That way we’ll empty this out and make sure that it is completely dry again the pot and then we can put the oil in and get it ready for the frying of the turkey. "
