"Hi! This is Dave for Expert Village. Today we're going to make some steaks with brandied mushroom sauce. Okay, now here's how to reconstitute some of your dried mushrooms. For this recipe, you need a one cup of liquid. These are your dried mushrooms. You want to add 1/2 cup of water. This is condensed chicken broth. If you have your own that's great, but will do is you want an equal amount of that too. What I like to do is open this up, get a half a cup of chicken stock right in there too so it'll be just about the right amount. Set that aside. What you want to do is bring this to a boil. Now we have our stock simmering. We'll turn off the heat and actually take it right off the side here. Then we'll add our dried mushrooms. In this case, these are dried shiitakes and you can use all the other mushrooms I mentioned earlier. You just want to put those in. These are going to reconstitute and make this fantastic flavor. For some reason once they get dried like this, the intensity of the flavors are just amazing. What you want to do is just put these in the broth just like that. Put some sort of cover over it. If you don't have a regular cover for it, foil is going to work just fine. This will steam them and they're going to come out plump and juicy as they were when they were just picked. "
