Everyone loves that sweet, deep fried piece of dough known as the donut. Commonly ring shaped or filled with jelly or cream, donuts are a favorite breakfast food or snack. They were probably invented by Dutch settlers, but have become so much more since the early 1900's. Donut shops on every corner cook up sweet dough or batter, stretch it into ring shapes and fry it in oil. After being fried, donuts are either covered in a glaze or icing, or filled with jelly, custard, or cream filling. Despite the numerous shops dedicated to the production of this sweet treat, donuts are actually quite easy to make, and are certainly fun to decorate.

"Hi! I'm Rachel for Expert Village. Today we are going to make donut's. Donuts are a favorite of almost everybody. Although sometimes you feel when you want a donut you have to go and buy it. It is a very easy thing to make which you are going to see today. There are different toppings that you can make. You can make in different festive with different colors, different toppings. No one is really sure where the donut originated from but most opinions suggest that the Dutch settlers brought it into North America. When they came they brought a lot of pastry with them including cookies, cream pies and cobbler and probably the donut too. If you want to make an elephant ear, it is an option too. You just don't need to play as much with the dough, you don't fill it up with anything. You just fry it and then you spread powder sugar on top. "
