"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Laura Banford. I'm going to show you how to make some country chicken stew. Now we're going to prep our whole chicken. You have to be careful with the chicken because raw chicken might have some germs that you don't want to contaminate anything else. So make sure that you don't use the same surface to prepare, cut, clean and do anything with chicken that you're going to use for anything else. I have my chicken here on a separate plate just for that reason so I'm not going to mess around and slop around with it because I don't want to spread any the juices or the blood of the chicken. I have some Lysol wipes nearby too. Basically this chicken looks pretty good, it doesn't look like there is any. There is a couple of small feather pieces here but they are going to singe right off. When we cook it we want to go into the cavity and make sure that all the insides are taken out which I done already. There is extra fat right in the opening to the cavity I'm going to pull that right out. Now if I was going to roast this I would probably tusk it up like this so the chicken holds its shape and tie it like that. But this is going into a pot so we don't need to do any of that, let's just turn it over; this just looks really clean. Make sure you buy your chicken from a good grocery store or a butcher so that you know that you are getting something nice and fresh. That chicken looks great ready for the pot. When we come back we're going to prep our onions and our garlic."
