Gnocchi is a dumpling dish made of potato, semolina, flour or ricotta cheese, and can be made with or without spinach. It is traditionally an Italian dish, but has become very popular in several South American countries as a cheap but hearty meal. While gnocchi is often listed among pasta dishes in restaurants, and is cooked in a similar manner, it is not technically a pasta and can fall apart easily if overcooked. Generally best if made fresh, gnocchi is frequently served with a tomato sauce, brown butter and sage sauce, or with melted butter and cheese.
In this free cooking video series, our expert will demonstrate how to make a delicious gnocchi recipe. "Hi I'm Greg from Expert Village and today we are going to make gnocchi. For this recipe we are going to need some flour, salt, potatoes, a egg, butter, basil, rosemary, saliva, some grated Parmesan cheese, some fontina cheese, chili flakes and some tomato paste. First thing we have to do is wash the potatoes. Throw them in a pot of boiling water. To check if they are down just poke on of the potatoes preferably the largest one and if it just falls apart it is done. Then drain. Notice we would peel the skin off of the potatoes. You can use a graters or a potato masher if you want but I though we would go old world and use a fork. Then make it into a mountain with a little hole in the middle. "
