"I'm chef Danielle from Expert Village there a lot of different ways that you can do garlic to minced it your just want to get it in real fine pieces so as thin as you can slice it is the best way to start. So you start out with some slices again they do not have to be perfect this is why its fun for friends and family at home. Then you want to get them to the little tiniest cubes that you can get them into so you want to go back with each little slice and your going to want to slice them again. Once they get into little slivers you can turn them around and slice them into little tiny cubes as tiny as you can get them. Once you get your garlic into these little tiny cubes mincing means you want to get it even finer so you want to hold your hand on top of your knife and be sure you just chop chop chop chop and just try to get it as finely minced as you can. Or if you don't want to chop up your garlic by hand if you have a garlic press which we still happen to have you can use a garlic press you just need to get your garlic into size that will fit into your press and you just squeeze and the garlic comes out the other end. You just need to take the back side of your knife and you can scrap off that good yummy garlic out of there that will work as well if you don't feel comfortable chopping the garlic, or you don't want to get the smell of the garlic on your hand. So I'm going to put this aside for now I finish it later your going to need about a 1/2 cup of olive oil for your pesto as well now your olive oil since it's a liquid you want to use a liquid measuring cup it normally looks similar to this. Its going to more accurately measure your liquid ingredient so you need a 1/2 of cup of this your going to want to use extra virgin olive oil because it's going to make pesto turn out a lot better. Your also going to need pine nuts and your going to need 3 tablespoons of these so you can just put these in any tablespoon measuring make sure you have 3 tablespoons. The next thing that you need is a 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese now I forgot to mention this earlier because this isn't an optional ingredient in your pesto. You can use already grated Parmesan or you can get a block of Parmesan and grate it yourself so it's a lot fresher the taste."
