Chopping Nuts to Make Butternut Squash Compote

"Hi, this is Rich Buccola here in New York City and today on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to make butternut squash compote. Alright, we're going to just add our nuts and raisins to our apples and we're going to chop up our nuts. Okay, I have these hazelnuts and I have these pecans. I also have a food processor. Now if you don't have a food processor, you can chop these up just as simple as this. Take the butt end of your knife and just. Look at that. It's done. Same thing with your pecans or your walnuts and you'll see, it breaks very simple. Now I have my food processor, so I'm just going to use that. I'm going to grab a handful, just throw them in and give it a good pulse. I don't want to over chop these. I want nice pieces. I don't want like crumbs. I don't want to get it down to where it's like crumbly. So now let's give it a good pulse. You only want to do it a couple of times and that's it. Those are your chopped nuts and we're going to add that right to our bowl of apples. So we're adding about three quarters of a cup of the nuts to our mixture and we're also going to add about a third to a half a cup of some raisins. You can use dates or currants. I just eyeball this, honestly. I just put a whole bunch in and I mix it all up. So that's about it. This is ready. Now let's, we're going to come back now and start doing the butternut squash and getting that ready for the oven."
