"I'm Stephanie Barnett on behalf of Expert Village, and today we're going to make Christmas cranberry sauce. That smells good. When you go to the store, I want you to really inspect your cranberries. Now, a lot of cranberries come in bags and you can't really open the bag, but I want you to peer through the bags to make sure that those cranberries are plump and they look firm. If you have any juice inside the bag, those cranberries are old. If the cranberries are extremely wrinkled, those cranberries are old. If the cranberries are look discolored, they're uniformly red, there are some parts that are brown and some parts that are black, those cranberries are old. Do not buy those cranberries. In fact, show them to your produce manager and ask them why do you have old cranberries on the shelf. Let's keep fresh ingredients in our stores, in our recipes, and our homes. You're going to look for a bright red cranberry. It should look plump and firm. A good cranberry should bounce. If you take your bag home and you take a cranberry out, you should be able to bounce that off the counter. That's what you're looking for in a cranberry. "
