"Hi. I'm Judy Brosco on behalf of Expert Village and I'm going to show you how to make marzipan decorations for your yule log cake. Marzipan is a sweet dough made from almonds and sugar. And you can find it in your grocery store ready made. We're going to start by taking a small piece off and we're going to start by making some mushrooms. It helps to have a little vegetable shortening to grease your fingers to prevent stickiness. So a couple of times to make it soft. We're going to take a little ball size here. And these ball sizes can vary depending on the size of the mushroom you want to have. Roll it into a ball, set it down and take another little piece and roll it into a cylinder. Going to cut the ends off, using your little finger, kind of cap it and mold it, making a mushroom cap shape. At this time, if you like, you can take a little knife, the back side and make the gills of the mushroom. Like that. Take the stem, push it in and set it aside. Make one more. Make a cap, roll a little log for the stem. Cut off your end pieces. Detail on the underside. And push your stem in. Now make as many as you want. You can take a little cocoa and lightly dust, so it looks like soil from nature."
