Ingredients for Making a Tomato Basil Salad

"Hi, this is Rich Buccola here in NYC and today on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you how to make mozzarella tomato and basil, beautiful. First thing you are going to need is a garden fresh tomato. So I just want to talk a little bit about tomatoes. You're going to need about 4-5 tomatoes, I'll talk about tomatoes in the next segment but we're also going to need a batch of fresh basil. No substitute in here so you have to go out and get some fresh basil, I actually grew this right out on my terrace here in NYC. This is what is left, all I do to store this I just cut it and put it in some water and I actually put it in some plastic and keep in the fridge. It stays pretty good for about a week or so up two weeks I would even say. But I want to use it before, sometimes I freeze it but I want to use it now and get it out of the way. So it's great, fresh, beautiful. You're also going to need some mozzarella, go out and get a hunk of mozzarella. You're going to realize it's going to be softer in texture and they also a lot of times they don't make them with salt so it's going to taste a little different. I just got this from the supermarket, I find it that more people like it the stuff that is packaged in the supermarket. But either way it's fine and actually fresh mozzarella cheese is the way to go but today I'm just using something that I bought in the store. You're going to need some extra virgin olive oil, dry oregano, salt and pepper taste that is how easy this is.
