" Hi! I’m Nili Nathan with Expert Village. Today I’m demonstrating how to make smoothies. What you want to do before you begin is wash and rinse your fruits and vegetables. You fill up your sink with cold water. Hot water has a lot of bacteria, you don’t want to use it, just cold water. Then I like to buy a natural fruit and vegetable wash. This is 100 % natural, it’s nontoxic; it removes the pesticides, the waxes and the chemicals. You can just follow the directions on the label, but generally in this amount of water I would put a couple of drops. You can also apply it onto the fruit like and apple and massage it on the fruit. That’s another way to use this. Then you just drop your fruits and vegetables. I always try and buy organic fruits and vegetables whenever I can. With over 100 chemicals in our food supply, which most of them were approved back in the 1950s, I think it’s a good idea. It’s better for our health; it’s better for the environment, and it’s good for the planet. Also, check the labels. You want to make sure you get USDA certified organic. You just swoosh it around in here for a little bit. I have strawberries, apple, and carrots. Then what you’ll do is give it one more rinse with just plain cold water. Then you want to pat dry your fruits and vegetables with paper towels. This is a good time to check, celery often has a lot of residue on the bottom of it. And your berries can lay flat on your towel. You don’t want to rub them because then you’ll smush them. A gentle pat is okay. Now we’re ready for the next step, which is making the smoothies."
