"Hello, I'm Robert Cheeke, president of Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness here in Portland, Oregon. And today on behalf of Expert Village, I'm doing a tutorial all about being vegan. In this clip I'm going to talk about shopping in the bulk food section. In the bulk section you're going to find seeds and nuts, and grains like quinoa, and rice, and millet, and barley, and all these things here that are really good for us. They are also high in protein. A lot of these things are a good source of protein. Some of the things I mentioned, the quinoa, amaranth, millet, buckwheat, brown rice, wild rice, these are all good sources of protein, good sources of quality carbohydrates as well. And you're going to get things like pumpkin seeds, and other seeds, sesame seeds here are good sources of calcium, good sources of protein, they're going to be in this bulk section here. All kinds of things for baking too, flour and sugar, so we're talking about cane sugar, unprocessed sugars so not white sugar, but just like a natural cane sugar. And flours of all different types here. The idea in the bulk food section is that you can get large quantities of food and it's actually typically a lower price. When you're shopping in the bulk food section, it's actually really easy and really efficient too for the environment and for your shopping ease, and getting exactly how much you want of what you're getting. So you just come over here and grab a bag, so you've got your bag here, nice it says organic right on it, and you pick like this we have a whole selection of lentils over here and beans, different things here. So I just put the bag under here, get out whatever quantity you want, alright so that looks pretty good to me. You just get whatever desired amount you want, again with limited packaging you can even reuse the bag, so it just cuts down on packaging and transportation, and you pick your own quantity. You just write down the bin number on here. So there's a bin number that's listed up there, this one happens to be number 506, you write it on here, on this little twisty thing here and take it up to the counter, and you are good to go with your bulk ingredients. You're going to save some money, get your desired quantity, limit packaging that's involved, and you're off to go make a meal. "
