"Hello. I'm Robert Cheeke, president of Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness based here in Portland, Oregon. And today, on behalf of Expert Village, I'm doing a tutorial all about being vegan. In this clip, I'm going to talk about getting really good produce, and there's a number of steps to do this. Number one, if you're able to is to grow your own. You can grow your own organic, local garden in your own backyard. Then you know exactly what's in the food, how it was treated, and what's in it, it obviously didn't travel very far. Another way is a CSA, Community Supported Agriculture. It's an organic farm that you work with the farmers. So you go out there and you work with them to produce the food and you get to get that, obviously that's part of your arrangement with them is to work with them and to be able to work directly with the food that you'll be eating. Another way is to go to farmer's markets. We have them all over the northwest, especially here in Portland, Oregon and there's one at the People's Food Co-Op today actually where we're shopping. And at a farmer's market again, you get a lot of local produce, it's organic, it's sustainable, you can talk to the farmers directly, learn about the processes in which the food was made. You obviously want to get stuff like this that says certified organic on there, and it's avoiding herbicides and pesticides and chemicals that maybe not even be very vegan friendly because of the impact they are having on that local habitat. So whenever possible, grow your own foods, support your community supported agriculture, support your farmers markets, and go to a cooperative grocery store or a health food store, depending on where you live and what's available.
