"Hi. I'm Anne Apra and I'm a caterer. So I'd like to share some catering tips with you in a session I like to call catering tips 101. I love to use seasonal fruits and vegetables when I'm creating menus, or displaying and making a beautiful buffet table. And one of the most favorite fall fruits that I like and the most feared is the pomegranate. You should have a good reason to fear, because the seeds can stain terribly. So I want to show you a few tips to make cutting a pomegranate a little bit easier. You're going to take a very sharp chef's knife and you're going to slice right down the center and expose the beautiful fruits and the membranes. You're going to cut into quarters or even thirds, depending on how large your fruit is and separate them pointing the fruit away from you. As you peel away, just use your thumb and fingers and free the fruit, the little seeds which are edible from the pith, the white portion of it. And I like to save some of the seeds and add them as a garnish or you can add them to salads. I've seen people add them to sauces. They're fantastic, fun and colorful. The juices have great anti-oxidant properties. So you can use them just to snack on around the house for that matter. Or you can use the rest of these beautiful pieces as a display. Make sure if you're going to put them on a platter that it has a lip on it so it can capture some of the juices. And you can put some beautiful herbs around it too. So that you'll have a beautiful fall harvest display."
