Series Summary

Fruit are a welcome addition to any persons diet, particularly in Western cultures where healthy food is often replaced by fat, greasy, drive-thru window cuisine. In a world where it's cheaper to buy fast food hamburgers than pineapples and oranges, bringing back thoughtful food choices can be difficult, but completely necessary to live a happy and healthy lifestyle. Aside from being versatile and delicious, fruit provides much needed vitamins and nutrients, as well as a health dose of fiber.

In this free video series, our expert will teach you how to prepare and cut a variety of fruit. Get expert advice on preparing pineapple, oranges and papayas. You will also learn how to zest lemons and oranges, and get tips for working with pomegranates, avocado and grapes. To top it off, our expert will show you how to use all this wonderful fruit and make a terrific and healthy fruit salad.

"Hi, I'm Anne Apra. I'm a caterer here in Los Angeles, I'm here today on behalf of Expert Village to give you some interesting and effective catering tips on a series that I like to call catering 101. Now when you're planning a meal whether you are having dinner at home or at a party for a friends or if you're a caterer like myself, you are going to want to think ahead to what your menu is going to be when you purchase things at the grocery store. You want to think ahead for all of your spices and herbs and your produce, buy them in a timely fashion. Before you begin anything on your preparation time I recommend that you gather all of your items that you are going to be using close at hands. So you don't have to go running for stuff. For example your knifes, cutting boards, seasonings, all of your wonderful produce and spices. I like to also have some little bowls to catch some of the goodies in and I like to have larger bowls for things that are soupy. I like to have all of my spoons, spatulas and other implements that I might be using my tools of trade if you will. Certainly paper towels nearby in case there is a spill nearby so you don't have to go running off I like to call this series catering tips 101. Thank you for joining me."
