Video Transcript

"SIMEON LOWE: Hi, my name is Simeon Lowe on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we are going to learn how to make gourmet coffee in your home. In this clip, we're going to go over some basic health precautions like washing your hands, cleaning up the espresso machine and just making sure that everything is set to go. First off, when you're washing your hands, you're going to want to make sure that you're on the hot water. You have to make sure to get underneath the fingernails and up onto the rest just to be safe. It is very easy to spread lots of foodborne illnesses through something such as making a coffee, and it makes it really easy to do especially when you're dealing with stuff like milk and the coffee. So okay, you're going to make sure that you're starting with clean pitchers because it's also very easy to spread germs through using previously used pitchers, especially if you're going to be steaming the milk because milk is a very easy contaminant. So make sure that you're rinsing off everything before you're using it. This is the espresso pitcher that we're going to be using. [INDISCERNIBLE]. And also, whatever espresso machine that you're using, make sure that you're going around all the edges of the portafilter, getting it cleaned. And you can even clean up in here getting all of the excess grounds. This is just to ensure that you're safe and that you're not going to be spreading any germs when you're trying to make your cup of coffee."
