Cafe, caffeine, java—no matter what you call it, coffee is one of those beverages on par with whiskey, wine and beer. You can have pointless arguments about how bean terroir and roasting techniques affect coffee’s flavor. Brewing a pot of coffee requires somewhat complicated machinery. There exists a rigid class system within the world of coffee consumers: instant vs. beans, those that do the ‘bucks and those that don’t, cream and sugar vs. black, for pleasure or for energy—and a hundred other comparisons. Finally, coffee could be considered a mind-altering substance, if consumed in proper quantities. All of these inherent qualities of the java bean have endeared it to our collective consciousness—or unconsciousness, depending on what time of day it is. Coffee drinkers of the world, unite!

"Hi, I'm Ashley, on behalf of Expert Village and I'll show you how to make a cappuccino. So, you only want to steam as much milk as you need for each drink. And, you put it under the steam wands. A cappuccino is usually a third espresso, a third milk, and a third foam, so your going to hold the steam wand just to the top until it makes this fizzing noise, which is how you make foam, and you only want to make it up to a hundred degrees, the milk spoils at a hundred degrees if your still making foam, so you just push it into the middle of your pitcher, make sure it doesn't touch the side or the bottom, and I usually turn it off at 150 so it ends up being about 165 or 170. There should be about 14 grams of coffee in order to pull a double shot, some machines just pull singles. We only pull doubles here. With this specific machine and the roast of coffee I have, eighteen to twenty-eight seconds is the perfect shot. Let me dump those out. And, this is the cappuccino spoon, so you're going to pour your milk in first, depending on how they like it, wet is more milk, dry is more foam. You're going to pour your shots over and then stir it up, and then there's a cappuccino. Watch our next segment and I'll show you how to make another drink."
