" On behalf of expertvillage.com, I’m Liz Muller, and today I’m going to teach you how to make a delicious beautiful cheesecake flan. The next thing we’re going to do right here is we’re going to take our sugar and we’re going to melt it to make caramelized sugar. That goes on the bottom of the pan and it makes the flan nice and brown on the top. It’s like a caramel and it’s done with sugar. You have to melt our sugar first, and we’re going to use 1 cup of sugar. Okay, so I’m going to take a cup like that. Probably a little bit more. So a cup of sugar in that pan. I like to do a little extra sometimes; I love sugar in my flan. Okay, you take it, and on medium heat…If you have a gas stove, we’re going to keep it on a medium heat, kind of low. "
