"Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village. Let?s start with cracking our egg. I'm just going to crack it into this bowl to make sure I don't get any shells. Put that into the mixer and then we'll put in everything else. Our 1/2 cup of soy milk or milk, our 1/2 cup of water, our 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, our 1/2 teaspoon of salt, our tablespoon of baking powder, our 1 1/4 cup of flour, and our 1/2 cup of sugar. We're just going to mix that until it's smooth, and then we'll go right over to our hot oil and I'll show you how to fry that up. You might want to stop once to scrape it down. You can mix this also with a hand whisk. You just want to get it smooth so it's not lumpy. Okay, my batter is a little bit loose here, and this is the only tricky part of doing the funnel cakes, is getting the right consistency of the dough. You want it to be almost a pancake batter. So if it's loose, you can just add a little bit more flour, and stir that up until it's smooth. It should be more like this, a little bit thicker."
