"Hi, I'm Karen for Expert Village. I have all of my apples cut in nice big chunks. I'm going to add a half a cup of water. This is to prevent the apples from burning right away and put it on heat and it would also create steam. I would steam those apples. Once the apples start to cook and juice starts to come out of them, then you will not need the liquid. So you just need a little bit of liquid. If you want, you can put sugar; you don't have to put sugar. I'm putting a quarter cup of sugar for this nice big batch of apples and a teaspoon of cinnamon. We would just cover this up and when it starts to cook down, I would stir it once in a while. We would just cook it in a medium to a medium-low heat and all being very careful that it is just simmering. It is not boiling hard and you want to make sure that the bottom of the pan is not burning; that the apples are not burning on the bottom. So you want to watch that heat, stir it frequently and you would see that the apples will start to become very juicy. The longer you would cook it the sweeter it would be. You would take a look and see how chunky you want it to be. Remove it from the heat when it is the right amount of chunkiness you like. You would just take that to the stove and get it cooking. "
