"Hi I'm Karen for Expert Village. So the onion goes in first. Now I'm going to peel my potatoes. You can use a peeler. I just peel them right into a bag, like this and leave them whole and we'll put them right into the feed tube of the food processor. Now every food processor is different and if the tube is too small to feed the potato into then you'll just cut it to size. You do want to work quickly. Some people will peel their potatoes and put them into water while they're waiting to keep them from browning, some nice cold water. But I find that it makes the potato absorb some of the water, and then it can make your potato pancake batter a little bit to wet, so you really don't want to have a very wet batter, so I find the best way to do it is to peel up your potatoes quickly and grate them up with the onion. You can also peel potatoes of course with a knife, it takes off a little bit more of the potato, but peelers are a little bit more efficient, but if you're handy with a knife, peeling potatoes are quicker I think with a knife. Now after you've peeled your potatoes, I'm just going to rinse them in a colander. I put them in the colander. I'm just going to rinse them over in the sink with a little water, just too kind of clean them up in case there's any dirt or anything from the peels. Just going to rinse them up and then we'll grate them right in with the onion."
