Video Transcript

"Hi this is Karen for Expert Village. Today I'll be showing you how to make three great Chanukah treats. We'll be making latkahs with homemade applesauce, traditional sufganiot donuts with jelly and this quick and easy fried recipe for funnel cakes. Now I'm going to show you how to make potato latkahs. Potato latkahs are potato pancakes. They're a potato and egg pancake that's fried in oil and they're usually served with sour cream and applesauce. These are the ingredients we'll be using for our potato latkahs. You'll need six good size potatoes, 1 medium size onion; unless you like more onion, then you can use a bigger onion, if you like less onion, use a smaller onion. We'll be using 2 eggs, about a 1/4 cup of flour, that will vary a little, you might want a little more, a little less, depending upon on how wet your batter is, a 1/4 teaspoon or 1/8 of a teaspoon of pepper, depending on how peppery you like them, a teaspoon of salt and a 1/2 of teaspoon of baking powder. You'll need some oil to fry them in, this is a Canola oil. Special equipment you might want to use is a colander and something to drain it into. We'll also be grating our potatoes in a food processor. I'm going to show you with the grating blade or you can also use it with a regular blade, it's a little bit different texture so it's a matter of preference, if you like them smooth or if you like them with long strands. Now you can do this recipe with a hand grater if you like also and it will come out just as good. Okay, lets get started. "
