"Okay the first part of every cookie recipe is that you want to cream the butter and the sugar. So we are going to use 1 cup (we have clean hands)we are going to use 1 cup this is real butter the good stuff. I buy Triple A butter and that means that it is really high quality and again use salted butter cause again I promise you your cookies are going to taste better. So that is 1 cups of butter and then we are going to add a half cup of Confectioner's sugar and I have already measured a 1/2 cup so this is what it is going to look like. This is Confectioner's sugar it also known as powder sugar so it is real powdery light stuff that makes powder in your hands. And this is what makes those cookies not really sweet cause it is not you won't put as much if you are using regular sugar. Okay we have the butter and the sugar right in here. We are just going to turn our mixture on to medium speed and you can see you want to cream it so it is going to be like 2 minutes maybe you could turn it a little. Once you see it's entirely incorporated and that is when you know you butter and sugar is properly creamed together. So this is what it looks like it just looks like butter it has all been combined and you are going to need like a spatula that is a important baking tool. So you just want to scrap the sides down and then we are going to add our almond extract and we are going to add 1 teaspoon of almond extract. And it smells so good I love almond extract we are just going to add that right in there and mix it up again. You are going to mix it up for about 20 seconds not to long. You know when it is done it is just vanilla extract it is just almond extract so its not it just takes a couple of minutes to mix in. Then we are going to add 1 1/2 cups of flour. So here we have this is all purpose flour you can buy bleached or unbleached I like to use King Arthur's and you can use Gold Medal any kind of flour that you want. So when you scoop flour it is really important you don't pack flour into the cup you just want to scoop it really lightly and that is going to give you the amount that you need. So that is 1 cup of flour we are going to add that right in and then we need our 1/2 cup of flour so we just scoop in very lightly, drag that across the top, and when you are baking you want to be really careful that you do get exact measurements cause baking is a science. That is why a lot of time people wonder why there cookies didn't turn out. So make sure you measure really carefully."
