"Alright, so, for the shortbread I've got a cup of very soft butter; you can see. It is always better to work with room temperature ingredients anyway, but for this recipe it is absolutely imperative. This is quite possibly the most simple shortbread recipe you will ever find. It doesn't use a lot of ingredients. In fact, it is adapted from my neighbors recipe back home. So, that?s half a cup of sugar that I added to the one cup I?m going to level off; get another knife, two and a half cups. Try not to spill it everywhere. Two and a half cups of flour. Just an all-purpose flour. And, another approximately give or take. There we go. Take your beaters, watch out there is probably going to be some of these dry ingredients flying about. So I just like to work the butter in a little bit with my beaters, first. Then, turn it on. You can see that it doesn't look like your usual cookie batter, right, that's all gooey, that has eggs in it. It almost like like a pastry crust. that sort of pea like texture they say when your making pastry dough. So that is nicely mixed. My one last ingredient that I will have to add, a splash of vanilla. I'm going to finish mixing this up real well and then we are ready to put it in the pan."
