"Hi I'm Rachel Dayan for Expert Village. Now I'm going to show you how to color marzipan before you shape it. You take the plain marzipan and you see it has a dull color here I have you can see I have a plain marzipan it has a dullish white color. If it is to hard you can always add a little bit of glucose to it I'm going to show you later on corn syrup or you can just work with it a little bit. We are going to make a hole in the middle, take yellow food coloring I'm gong to make a orange colored marzipan and a drop of red. So to get the orange I actually put 2 drops of yellow and 1 drop of the red, because the red is very very strong the red food coloring and then we are closing the whole and just kneading it. Make sure you do it with gloves cause food coloring is very can make you very very dirty. And make sure you wear a apron on cause you don't want it on your cloths either and we are just going to knead it. You can always add food coloring if you don't like the color, if you want it darker or if want it lighter you can add marzipan to the mix which would make the food coloring of course lighter. Now you see it turning to a nice orange color which we are going to use later on to make carrots or oranges."
