Next we are going to be putting our cakes in the oven. Now remember we said for a conventional oven we would be using the temperature 350 degrees and for a convection oven we would be using the temperature 300 degrees. Now most ovens the best place to place the cakes are in the center rack. But if you find that your oven is hot on the bottom and makes a browner bottom then you could put a sheet pan on the bottom rack to deflect some of the heat from the bottom. If you find that the top of your cakes are more brown on the bottom then you should put the cakes on a lower rack. We would set our timer now for 30 minutes. It is important that your oven is level also if you find that your cakes come out lopsided you could usually adjust the oven there are usually some legs to adjust the oven to level out your oven or some wooden wedges to get the oven level.
