"Hi! My name is Kip and I am here on behalf of Expert Village. Today we are making a Maple Apple Pie. In this next clip, we are going to show you how to roll out the dough for the crust that we will be using for our Maple Apple Pie. There are several different ways that people use to roll up their pie crust. My mom when I was a kid, would put down a piece of wax paper, put the ball of dough in the middle of the wax paper and put another piece on top of it and roll that out and just peel the wax paper away. I prefer to use just a little flour on my table to keep the dough from sticking to the table and then take the larger of the two and smash the dough and make yourself a little hand work a little round section. Often times, I will sprinkle a little bit more dough on top to keep my rolling pin from sticking and I use this wooden roller pin. It's a good idea if you are using a wooden rolling pin, one that has no finish on it, to occasionally put some oil on it to help keep it seasoned and then you always want to roll your dough from the center out. Place it in the middle and roll away. And of course, when I get to going fast, you will see that I am taking it from both sides but I am only pressing once I get to the middle. This will help keep the material moving from the center out and keep the thicknesses more uniform and make it overall much easier to deal with. You want to roll this out until it is thin and large enough to fit in an 8 inch pan. Now you notice here is a little spot that is not quite round obviously and it is not going to be but if you see a spot that needs to be filled, you can take a piece that is out too far and just add it to the little crack and then when you roll, just sort of combine there and off we go. And that should be about large enough to fit in our pan. "
