" Helen McMahon, here for Expert Village. Today we are going to make oatmeal raisin walnut cookies. A favorite of families for generations and these cookies have spices added to them and they are utterly delicious. First thing you want to do is set your temperature to 350 degrees. We’ve taken care of that and I am going to tell you the ingredients so that you can gather them together and have them ready to go. We will start with 1 cup; that will be 2 sticks of butter or margarine. I use butter because I think it gives a better flavor and it does not have any trans fats. Then you will need a cup of brown sugar and a cup of white sugar and 2 teaspoons of vanilla, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt and I add some extra spices; this is brown cinnamon and nutmeg and then we will follow that with 2 ½ cups of all purpose flour. I prefer the unbleached flour actually and at the end when that is all mixed, we will add a cup of raisins or a cup and half for a more raisin cookies and a cup of walnuts that are nicely chopped. Some people like to add chocolate chips to this instead of the raisins; that would be up to you. Okay, I think we will be ready to begin then as soon as we have all of our ingredients ready. Oh, I forgot the eggs. Eggs go into this recipe of course. "
