"Hi! This is Josiah Owen with Expert Village and today we're going to be talking about making a cookie tree. To start off our sugar cookie process, we're going to need to get one cup white sugar. We're going to pour this in our mixer. I've got one full cup. I'm going to put this to the side. We're going to need 3/4 cup soft butter. Each of these sticks is roughly a half a cup, so we're going to be using 1 1/2 sticks. They'll usually have the measurements on the side of the butter. Now we're going to bring this up and we're going to start mixing it on low. Everything's mixed in there. Now we're going to talk about making our wet base for our sugar cookies for our cookie tree. We're going to need eggs, medium size. To start off, we need a bowl ready. We're going to go ahead and crack these. You want to tap it lightly on the side and turn it clockwise. That way the egg will come out whole, which doesn't really matter right now, but also that elevates any of the shell particles getting in the egg mixture. That'll just take time and you'll get your fingers all eggy and slippy and slidey. It's just not fun right now. After this, we're going to have 2 eggs in there. We need a half a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Right now we had some poured in here from making other recipes, so we can just put it to the side. Pour that in there. Now that we have our butter and sugar mixed up and we have our eggs and vanilla over here, which is our wet base, we're going to go ahead and slowly add this in with the sugar and butter. What we're going to do is we're going to start on low and slowly speed up our mixer. We're just going to let this mix until it's an even consistency. Now you can see that some of the butter and sugar is sticking to the side, so we're just going to get our wooden spoon and scrape this off into the middle. Go ahead and turn this back on and mix it until it's an even consistency."
