"Hi, I'm Jennifer Cail and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to show you how to make these beautiful snowflake cookies. While our cookies are cooling I'm going to show you how to make the icing. Now one of the easiest icings to make for cookies for decorating them is a royal icing. What that is, is powdered sugar, egg whites and a little bit of water until it gets the consistency that you need. This is a very versatile icing that you can use. You can thin it out if you want it to be pour able or you can have it be a little bit thicker if you want to pipe it. However, I am making one pound of icing because it uses raw egg whites you are much better off buying a mix. It is inexpensive. You can get them at any cake decorating store which is going to have such things and that way you don't have to worry about the icing having salmonella or any type of egg safety issues. So I am just mixing this up a little bit to get it incorporated before I start mixing it with the hand mixer. Now that I have finished beating up the icing you can see it's a great consistency for either spreading or for piping which is what I am going to show you how to do in just a moment."
